It’s a tough call as to whether the train journey from Stockholm to Malmö is as tedious as the city of Malmö itself, but I think the journey just shades it. The thing that clinches it is that malmö is the home of one-time European champions, FF Malmö, and a flying visit to the Malmö Fotbollförening is a must.
I’m sure the ground was hailed as being ‘futuristic’ when it was built but, unfortunately, it looks a bit dated now. The main stand resembles a huge sea shell, with a smaller version of the same facing it on the opposite side of the stadium. Actually, it’s not too dissimilar to Huddersfield’s McAlpine Stadium, but it’s all drab concrete and pale blue and white decor and not very sexy at all. A bit like the city of Malmö really.
