BURBANK, Calif., October 3, 2003 – The world’s biggest comic book fan is taking Hollywood by farce! Mark Hamill (yes, the one-and-only Luke Skywalker of “Star Wars”) stars in and directs COMIC BOOK: THE MOVIE, a hilarious send-up of comics and pop culture, available as a deluxe, 2-disc DVD collector set on January 27, 2004. Miramax Films in association with Creative Light Entertainment and Amazing Invisible, Inc. present this uproarious, heartfelt love-letter to the world of comics and its die-hard fans. COMIC BOOK: THE MOVIE goes to the wild and wacky San Diego ComicCon, the world’s biggest fan convention, as fictional documentary filmmaker Donald Swann (Hamill), the ultimate fan boy, tries to film a “documentary” about his favorite comic book heroes of all time, “Commander Courage and Liberty Ladd.” But Hollywood, comic books, and a cast of zany characters collide – with hysterical consequences!

This one-of-a-kind comedy features a host of pop culture icons including Kevin Smith (“Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”), Donna D’Errico ( “Baywatch”), Hugh Hefner, Bruce Campbell (“Evil Dead”), Chase Masterson (“Star Trek Deep Space Nine”), comic book creator Stan Lee (co-creator, “Spider-Man,” “The X-Men,” “The Hulk”), legendary comedians Sid Caesar (NBC’s “Your Show Of Shows”) and Jonathan Winters (TV;s “Mork & Mindy”), Gary Owens (TV’s “Laugh In”) Matt Groening (creator of “The Simpsons”) and many more.

The mockumentary stars award-winning voice over artists Billy West (“Futurama”), Roger Rose (“Rugrats In Paris”), Jess Harnell (“Animaniacs”), Daran Norris (“The Fairly Odd Parents”), Lori Alan (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) and Tom Kenny (the voice of “SpongeBob SquarePants”). The filma also features the talents of Debi Derryberry (the voice of “Jimmy Neutron”), Jim Cummings (the voice of “Winnie the Pooh), and many other famous voice-over artists.

The 2-disc DVD of COMIC BOOK: THE MOVIE includes over four hours of extras, including audio commentary with Mark Hamill, bloopers, deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, interviews with Hugh Hefner, Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, art gallery and more (see attached for details). Available for $29.99 (S.R.P.) for 2-disc DVD from Miramax Home Entertainment and Creative Light Entertainment.

Directed by Mark Hamill (“Star Wars,” “Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back,” “Star Wars The Return of the Jedi”), COMIC BOOK: THE MOVIE follows the hilarious antics of the world’s biggest comic fan, Donald Swan (Hamill), who has just been hired by a Hollywood Studio to direct a documentary about the great comic book heroes “Commander Courage & Liberty Ladd.” Armed with the studio’s marketing guru (Roger Rose), a confused cameraman (Jess Harnell), and the grandson of Commander Courage’s deceased creator (Billy West), Donald heads to the world’s largest comic book convention where he’s on a mission to save his beloved “Commander Courage” from the clutches of Hollywood.

Donald, however, is Commander Courage’s biggest fan of all time and has plans of his own. He enlists many of the top comic book icons in the world to convince the Studio to make the story of Commander Courage faithful to the spirit of the original comic book. At the convention, pop culture stars and wild comic book fans collide – with hysterical consequences.

COMIC BOOK: THE MOVIE is produced by Scott Zakarin, Eric Mittleman, Mark Hamill, Roger Rose, Billy West and Jess Harnell for Creative Light Entertainment. The film is executive produced by Rich Tackenberg and Peter Jaysen.
